DeSoto, Texas, became the backdrop of a harrowing confrontation last Friday evening when a resident found herself fending off an armed intruder in a scene straight out of a homeowner’s worst nightmare. According to a social media post by the

, police were called to the 400 block of Raintree Circle after multiple 911 calls reported an active disturbance and possible shots fired at around 7:54 pm.

A woman returned home and noticed a dark truck following her. The situation escalated when the suspect trailed her to her driveway and tried to break into her house through the garage. During the 911 call, she was heard screaming in fear, and neighbors reported hearing gunshots. Officers arrived three minutes later at 7:57 pm. The victim met them outside and said she had shot the intruder, who was found wounded at the back of her house.

Police found 35-year-old Octavio Flores Mondragon inside the garage with gunshot wounds to his chest and face. A pistol that he reportedly carried was also found at the scene. “The victim fired multiple gunshots at the suspect which stopped him,” the

DeSoto Police Department

stated on their Facebook page. Following the event, Flores Mondragon received first aid from the authorities before being transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The suspect has been charged with burglary with the intent to commit another crime, highlighting the seriousness of the situation. Police have not released more details as the investigation continues, and the suspect’s motives remain unclear.
