Baltimore Parents Sentenced for Roles in School Shooting, Mother to Serve Probation and Father Faces Prison Time

In an incident that cut too close to every parent’s nightmare, Tiffany Harrison has faced the hammer of justice with a three-year sentence for her involvement in a harrowing episode of gun violence that erupted outside of Carver Vocational-Technical High School last year. This sentence suspends all but time served and includes three years of mandatory probation and parenting classes, as reported by

The events of October 27, 2023, unraveled like a terrible street play where Harrison and her partner, William Dredden, not only accompanied their 15-year-old son to the school with the intent, police say, to assault another teen but witnessed the descent into violence that left multiple people shot and injured; this according to accounts captured on private surveillance footage, and reported by

The State’s Attorney, Ivan J. Bates, underscored the gravity of parental responsibility in the wake of the sentencing statement detailed by

. Bates stated: “Today’s sentencing should send a clear message to every parent or guardian in our city: it is possible to be held accountable for your child’s actions and you cannot turn a blind eye to, or be complicit in, criminal activity without facing consequences.”

Dredden, who played a more active role in the incident by standing and fighting while his son and another teen fired guns, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with 15 years suspended. This means he must serve at least five years in prison without parole, followed by three years of supervised probation.
