Earlier today, an incident on westbound Interstate 94 in Detroit led to injuries of three Michigan State Police troopers, each of whom were investigating a separate crash at the time. , the 32-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a Chevy Malibu and failed to move over for the troopers who were blocking the right lane due to the initial crash. Despite the clear presence of emergency vehicles before striking the rear driver side of one patrol car and then rear-ending a second patrol car, after which all three troopers were taken to a local hospital, treated for minor injuries, and released.

highlighted the widespread issue of risky driving behaviors in Michigan, citing comments from MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw, who stated, “We often talk about risky driving behaviors being the cause of most traffic crashes here in Michigan,” and adding, “This driver decided not only to not move over for emergency vehicles, but drive impaired as well.” The incident comes not long after a road construction worker was fatally hit on I-75 in southwest Detroit earlier this month and the death of MSP Motor Carrier Officer Daniel Kerstetter on September 13, who was fatally struck during a traffic stop on I-75 in Lincoln Park and later died from his injuries.
