Incident occurred last Friday morning when 25-year-old Victoria Frias lost her life in a fatal crash. The incident occurred on the service road of East Sam Houston Parkway South, Houston, where Frias was reportedly walking and using her phone, according to the
Houston Police Department
.
Frias was hit by a blue Chevrolet Corvette which was traveling northeast, the same direction Frias was walking in, at approximately 4:25 a.m. The 53-year-old driver, who has not been charged with any impairments, stopped and remained on site following the incident.
The aftermath of the collision drew immediate response from the Houston Fire Department paramedics. Sadly, they could only pronounce Ms. Frias deceased at the scene of the accident. The driver, whose role in the crash has raised concerns about pedestrian safety, was questioned and subsequently released by authorities.
HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer M. Keita are spearheading the ongoing investigation. The driver, identified only as a 53-year-old individual, has cooperated with law enforcement since the collision.
