Traffic on Interstate 275 came to a standstill in Tampa after a semi hauling a large piece of construction equipment collided with an overhead structure, authorities said. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a semi truck, carrying an excavator, struck the Livingston Avenue overpass, prompting immediate closures in both directions of the busy highway as safety inspections were undertaken.

The disruptions, which began after the crash, caused considerable delays for commuters and travelers throughout the Tampa Bay area. As officials and inspectors swiftly worked to evaluate the situation, both northbound and southbound lanes remained off-limits to the public. Despite the potential for significant setbacks to the day’s flow, all lanes were reopened in a timely manner, following the green light from authorities.
