Commuters on I-94 near Ann Arbor faced unexpected delays yesterday morning following a semi-truck accident that resulted in a large salt spill on the highway. According to

, the incident occurred west of Baker Road and involved a 63-year-old truck driver hauling salt who abruptly drove off the freeway around 10 a.m.
The driver, who Michigan State Police suspect may have suffered a medical emergency leading up to the crash, was quickly taken to University of Michigan Hospital. His current condition has not been released. Troopers were dispatched to the area after the truck departed the road, causing one of the trailers to overturn and spill its payload onto the freeway.
No other vehicles were caught up in the incident, the right lane of westbound I-94 west of Baker Road was intermittently closed as crews worked to clean the spill, as noted by
