Las Vegas Man Sentenced to Over 16 Years for Sexual Exploitation of Teen

A Las Vegas man has been given a 16-year and eight-month prison sentence for offenses related to the sexual exploitation of a teenager. Kenton Hardy King, 29, was convicted on charges of coercion and enticement, child sexual exploitation, and possession of child sexual abuse material following a trial that concluded this June, according to the

.

King’s criminal activities were uncovered when it was found that he had used Omegle, an online chat platform, to meet and subsequently manipulate a 15-year-old into sexual activities and the creation of explicit materials. The victim was also threatened by King, who claimed he would distribute the material to their family, friends, and school if they did not comply.

United States District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey handed down the sentence, which also includes a subsequent 10 years of supervised release. The conviction is a result of efforts by Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 designed to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. This program coordinates a network of federal, state, and local resources to better detect and prosecute internet-based exploitation of children.

United States Attorney Jason M. Frierson and FBI’s Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans were the officials who announced the sentencing. The FBI, along with the Henderson Police Department, were responsible for the investigation of the case; prosecution was managed by Assistant United States Attorneys Steven Rose and Jean Ripley. For those looking to report suspected cases of child sexual exploitation, resources are available through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website or their toll-free number 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).
