Residents of Pacific Palisades witnessed an emergency response from the Los Angeles Fire Department this morning as firefighters battled a brush fire that erupted in the hills near 1400 N Palisades Dr. The
LAFD alert
reported approximately 5 acres of land were burning, with the blaze being primarily topography-driven, pushing through heavy brush adjacent to the reservoir.
The fire, which began at around 9:50 AM, was challenging due to the steep slopes in the area. However, with substantial efforts from ground crews and aerial operations, firefighters managed to halt the forward progress of the inferno just an hour after it was reported. In an updated statement following their initial response, the
LAFD
confirmed to reporters, “Over 60 firefighters on scene have stopped all forward progress.” The diligent action, which included rapid water drops from air operations, successfully held the fire to approximately one acre—a revision from earlier estimates.
LAFD
announced that no structures were damaged, and no injuries were sustained during the incident, a fortunate outcome considering the potential threat to nearby homes and residents. The firefighters’ quick response and strategy appeared to be pivotal in containing what could have escalated into a more devastating event.
Despite the containment, crews continued to work on the scene, conducting mop-up operations to extinguish remaining hot spots—a process made more difficult due to the terrain. The
LAFD
stated “Due to the steep terrain and the work required to conduct a mop up operation, all resources will remain on scene.”
