A tragic incident occurred on the northwest side of Milwaukee, when a 2-year-old child was struck and killed by a vehicle near 60th and Hustis yesterday. According to

, the toddler ran into traffic around 12:25 p.m. and was subsequently hit. The child was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but later succumbed to them.

Reacting to the devastating news, Shaquan Jefferson, a local resident, said on

, “I just heard a scream from down the block and I immediately heard like three or four ambulances come across the block,” further expressing the emotional toll such events take on the community. The driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old man, did not flee the scene and was arrested. A spokesperson informed FOX6 News that criminal charges are to be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for a license violation that resulted in death.

Concerns about traffic safety in the area were echoed by Tameka Moss, who lives near the site of the tragedy. In an interview with

, Moss lamented the loss, empathetically stating, “Thats a hurting feeling you know,” and highlighted the need for caution and reduced speed, “They do need to slow it down,” she said.
