Spring Valley Man Convicted in Violent Robbery and Firearms Case in Rockland County

Rockland County has seen justice served as Thierry Antoine, a 34-year-old resident of Spring Valley, New York, was convicted of a brutal Hobbs Act robbery and firearms charge. In a trial that lasted five days in White Plains federal court, the jury found Antoine guilty of orchestrating a violent robbery that involved assaulting an individual and stealing cash and luxury goods from the residence of a known marijuana dealer. , “A unanimous jury has found that Thierry Antoine engaged in a violent gunpoint robbery, which included the beating of an innocent victim.”

On the fateful day of December 16, 2019, Antoine and five accomplices went to the Chestnut Ridge home armed with a mini-bat, a knife, and a firearm. There, they not only beat a young man who was at the home to visit a friend but also used excessive force by shoving the firearm in his mouth, resulting in a broken tooth. Following this attack, they entered the residence and stole items including cash, drugs, and high-end clothing and shoes. “Thanks to the hard work of the career prosecutors of this Office and our law enforcement partners, Antoine is now held accountable for his conduct,” Williams conveyed in a statement from the

The convictions include one count of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, another count of Hobbs Act robbery itself, each carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and a count of use, carrying, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, which has a minimum sentence of five years to be served consecutively to any other penalties and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. As issued by Congress, these sentences are legal guidelines and the actual sentencing, which is set for April 4, will be at the discretion of U.S. District Judge Nelson S. Román.
