Residents of Lāwa‘i and travelers should expect disruptions in mid-November due to roadwork. The Department of Public Works, in partnership with Maui Kupono Builders, announced a full closure of parts of Akemama Road tomorrow and on Monday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The closure is for necessary road resurfacing.
According to the
County of Kauai website
, although delays of up to an hour may occur, residents within the work zones will have limited access. They are advised to adjust departure times or use alternative routes. Parking in the work zones is prohibited during these times, and flaggers will direct traffic to ensure safety for both cars and pedestrians.
Frequent users of Akemama Road will need to adjust their schedules, allowing extra travel time and following rerouting advice. While temporary, these closures are part of broader efforts to improve road safety and quality.
