In a recent declaration provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Raymond Davese, a 38-year-old man from Washington, D.C., has entered a guilty plea for charges related to a carjacking incident that took place in June of this year. Davese, who has been detained since June 7, after the carjacking of a valet driver, agreed to an 8-year prison sentence, followed by three years of supervised release,
according to the Justice Department.
The carjacking occurred in Southeast D.C. where the valet was assaulted as she parked a client’s SUV. Details from the hearing revealed that Davese attacked the victim from behind putting her in a headlock, and applied a taser to her neck before fleeing with the vehicle. The incident concluded quickly as Davese crashed the SUV a short distance away, and was promptly apprehended by local authorities.
During the admission of guilt before the Honorable Heidi M. Pasichow in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Davese acknowledged his actions on the day of the incident. The formal sentencing has been slated for February 21, 2025. This plea is subject to the court’s approval, and if accepted, it will mark the beginning of Davese’s time behind bars starting from the date of his initial capture.
The Metropolitan Police Department led the investigation into the crime, with Assistant United States Attorney John Parron handling the prosecution. Details provided by the Justice Department indicate that the case will reach its judicial endpoint early next year, bringing closure to an event that shook the local community and especially, the victim who endured a harrowing experience. Davese will remain incarcerated pending the final sentencing.
