South Nashville Morning Stabbing at Bus Stop Leaves Woman Dead, Suspect Detained with Help from Locals

According to WSMV, a tragic occurrence occurred early on a Friday morning in South Nashville near a bus stop on Harding Place, where a woman was stabbed to death. A WeGo bus driver saw the murder firsthand and quickly reported it. After being taken to the hospital and declared dead, the victim passed away from her wounds at the nearby bus stop, where the stabbing occurred instead of on the bus itself.

A portion of Harding Place was closed off at Antioch Pike while the authorities conducted the death investigation. The motive behind the attack has not yet been determined. The WKRN report states that Metro police rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at around 5:15 a.m., finding the woman severely injured who later passed away at an area hospital.

Interestingly, local residents played a crucial role in apprehending the suspect, who is currently in custody, after they saw the man stab the woman and chose to step in. “Citizens in the area caught the suspect by tackling him while police were on the way,” the statement obtained by FOX 17 News reads.

The situation was made even more distressing by the fact that a nearby gas station employee was one of the people who saw the crime and called 911. He revealed how other people at the bus stop, including WeGo bus passengers, got off the bus to help the victim, who was waiting for her ride when the attack happened. It should be noted that the driver of the same bus was one of the first people to report the violence. The community is still reeling from the violence that broke out in the precarious calm of the early morning. The MNPD homicide detectives are still conducting a thorough investigation.
