Pauliasky Jean-Francois, 38, was found guilty of murdering someone outside of a Woburn restaurant almost four years ago. In 2020, Lloyd Borgella, 26, of Roslindale was killed by Jean-Francois, who was found guilty in Middlesex Superior Court. A spokesperson for the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said that the jurors found the defendants guilty of first-degree murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a firearm without a license.
The events that led to the conviction began in the evening of December 12, 2020. Several 911 calls about gunfire in the parking lot of Jake n JOES Sports Grille at 230 Mishawum Road led the Woburn Police to arrive. When the police arrived, they found Borgella with multiple gunshot wounds from leaving the business. Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, Borgella died from his injuries and was declared dead. During the investigation, the Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and the Woburn Chief of Police Robert Rufo worked together and were open about how violent the act was. It happened after Borgella had a first date at the diner.
The investigation also found that Jean-Francois and Eric Mills had parked their black car in the parking lot and were keeping a watchful eye on things. They got close to Borgella as he was leaving the restaurant after moving to a hotel parking lot where they could see the kitchen’s exit clearly. “Pauliasky Jean-Francois targeted Lloyd Borgella and waited for him to leave a restaurant where he had gone on a first date,” said District Attorney Ryan, emphasizing how planned the attack was. “The defendant opened fire in the public parking lot of the busy restaurant when Mr. Borgella walked outside,” the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said. She spoke out against the rising gun crime and said that those responsible should be held responsible.
After the violent attack, Jean-Francois rammed the escape car into a tree and tried to run away on foot. He was later caught by cops in Woburn while walking on Alfred Street. After looking at surveillance footage, the police proved that Jean-Francois was the shooter. At first, he pretended to be a possible victim of a different shooting. He had the key to the crashed car with him, and police found two semi-automatic pistols along the getaway routes that Jean-Francois and Mills used. Chief Rufo expressed his gratitude and said that the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s office had been very helpful during the probe.
When Jean-Francois is sentenced on November 25, justice for Borgella’s family will be done. While this is going on, Eric Mills is being charged with first-degree murder and other crimes. His court date is November 26. The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Woburn Police Department, and the State Police are all still working to bring peace and justice to the people who were hurt by Lloyd Borgella’s death.
