On Monday, the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) will start fixing the sidewalks and ramps on Nelson Street SW. This will mean that people who travel to work in Atlanta will have to make some changes to their daily routes. An ATLDOT warning released early today says the work will happen from Northside Drive SW to Elliott Street SW, and the lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
As a result of the work, the traffic pattern on the segment will change for drivers, but at least one lane will still be open for cars. The lane shutdown is needed to make sure that workers can safely fix up ADA ramps and make sidewalks better as part of the city’s ongoing work to improve its infrastructure, according to the Department of Transportation.
To keep things running as smoothly as possible, the city will plan the work to happen outside of Atlanta’s busiest times. There will be people in charge of traffic who can help drivers get through the shifted lines and around the work area, which will help keep things from getting too crowded. Travelers are told to be careful and wait their turn. Locals and drivers who were affected and wanted more information or to voice their worries could email [email protected] to the ATLDOT. The date that the repairs will be done has not been stated.
