The Nashville Davidson County Register of Deeds Office will be closed for a short time on Monday, November 18, so that it can move to its new, remodeled space upstairs at 300 Deaderick Street. This is so that Phase II of the building project can begin on the ground floor. This change shows that the 15,000-square-foot building is getting better as part of the ongoing upgrades.
County Register Karen Johnson said that the office is committed to keeping services the same even though things are changing. In a statement received by Nashville.gov, Johnson said, “We are excited to move into our beautiful new space, which will make it easier for our customers to get to us, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to this updated office.” The move is meant to make things easier for the public by using the newest technology to make it simple to get to important public records.
The office will be open again the next day, Tuesday, November 19, at 8 a.m., and hours will go back to normal, running until 4:30 p.m. People are being told to make plans ahead of time because services will not be available during the moving period.
More changes are likely to come. Scheduled to happen in February 2025, the whole facility should be fully running by that time. The goal of upgrading is to improve how the public interacts with the Register of Deeds as a whole, making processes easier to follow and making better use of public resources.
