Grand Prairie Lauded for Digital Excellence at National City Summit in Tampa Bay

The City of Grand Prairie is in the top tiers for digital advancement and security, garnering national acclaim for its technological advancements. Grand Prairie received an award from the Center for Digital Government at the National League of Cities’ “City Summit” in Tampa Bay, Florida, for their outstanding work in areas like improving digital services, cybersecurity, and closing the technological gap.

Speaking candidly about the city’s strategy, Information Technology Director Keshnel Penny said, “This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our Information Technology team, city leadership, and all city departments who consistently collaborate to push the boundaries of digital innovation.” The City of Grand Prairie claims that the honor is more than just a flashy trophy; it is evidence of its continued dedication to creating a tech-forward society that will benefit its citizens’ quality of life and economic success.

The Digital Cities Survey looks at how cities use technology to improve digital defenses, simplify services, safeguard online privacy, and come up with innovative solutions for today’s urban problems. Grand Prairie’s proficiency in these areas is demonstrated by its sixth-place rating in the population category of 125,000 to 249,000. Penny said of the milestone, “We are proud to be a part of this transformative journey and remain dedicated to advancing Grand Prairie as a digital leader among cities,” according to a press statement from the city.

The deployment of Barracuda Email Protection Premium Plus, which was crucial in intercepting almost 105,000 suspicious emails each month, is one of the measures that made Grand Prairie stand out. More than 2 million malicious URLs and IP connections were blocked in less than a week thanks to crucial firewall updates that included threat intelligence feeds.
