Everett Tragedy: Woman Fatally Hit by Car on Evergreen Way, Not in Crosswalk

A 34-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle as she crossed Evergreen Way in Everett yesterday night, authorities reported. The Everett Fire Department (EFD) stated that the accident occurred a little before 10 p.m. in the 11800 block of Evergreen Way, where the victim attempted to cross mid-block and not at a designated crosswalk. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene,KOMO Newsreported.

Following the fatal incident, the Everett Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit became involved with the investigation. The victim was found in the middle of the road by paramedics, according to a statement obtained byMyNorthwest. EFD Public Information Officer Rachael Doniger indicated that detectives believe she was crossing outside of a designated crosswalk when she was hit.

The driver who struck the pedestrian stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, confirmed in an interview with Officer Doniger. This recent fatality occurs amidst a string of traffic-related deaths in the area. Less than a block away, a separate incident claimed the lives of three individuals just last week.
