Tennessee Enhances Statewide Security with Graduation of New Special Agents in Nashville Ceremony

Yesterday, Governor Bill Lee and other top officials celebrated the graduation of 16 new special agents into the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security in an official ceremony at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in Nashville. Now, the state has a dedicated special agent in each of Tennessee’s 95 counties, thanks to the recent grads who received their badges during the event.

Deputy Commissioner Greg Mays and Commissioner Jeff Long presented the graduates with their badges as a sign of respect. “We appreciate the support and investment Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly continue to make in public safety,” Commissioner Long said, enthusiastically stepping into a commitment to public safety, according to the Department of Safety & Homeland Security’s official website. “Some of the best law enforcement professionals in the country are in this graduating class,” he continued. I express my gratitude to each and every one of them for their readiness and desire to serve, defend, and secure the citizens of Tennessee.

Governor Lee’s goal of increased security throughout the state is reflected in this accomplishment. In order to ensure the welfare of Tennessee’s inhabitants, the recently appointed special agents will be assuming responsibilities in a variety of areas, including emergency preparedness and counterterrorism.
