The Worcester Police Department reported the arrest of a twenty-year-old man, identified as Caleb Dayton, known to have multiple outstanding warrants and found in possession of several firearms, including a large black Tec-9 and multiple AR-platform rifles. According to theCity of Worcester, an officer on detail in the Vinson St area recognized Dayton and observed him entering a local address, after which a team was dispatched to confirm the warrants and surveil the residence.
The confirmed warrants against Dayton included charges such as carjacking, larceny, breaking and entering, and drug offenses. He was also noted for not possessing a driver’s license. Upon returning to the Vinson St address, Mr. Dayton attempted to evade officers but was apprehended in the doorway of the residence. It was then that officers discovered the Tec-9 on his person, and Dayton was subsequently placed under arrest, he was not licensed to carry firearms.
A further search warrant executed at the address led to the discovery of additional weaponry including multiple AR-platform rifles, a shotgun, one more handgun, and a significant cache of ammunition. Following these findings, Dayton now faces a slew of new charges. These charges include multiple counts of unlawfully carrying a firearm, possession of a large capacity firearm and feeding device, improper storage of a firearm, and possession of ammunition without an FID card. He has also been charged with armed career criminal level 1, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
