A Cuyahoga County grand jury has indicted Fiona Allen, 40, for her actions during the 2020, 2022, and 2023 elections. According to theCuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, Allen, a non-citizen legally residing in the United States, has been charged with five counts of illegal voting and one count of falsely registering to vote.
Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley’s office declared that Allen could not participate in U.S. elections due to her legal non-citizen status. Allegedly, on March 7, 2020, Allen completed a voter registration card on which she truthfully indicated she was not a U.S. citizen. Voting eligibility requires one to be at least 18 and hold U.S. citizenship by the next general election. Despite clear instructions on the registration card advising against completion if one is not a citizen, Allen submitted the form incorrectly.
The allegations extend to cover five separate instances of voting across three years. The elections in question include the presidential election on November 3, 2020, the primary election on May 3, 2022, and the general election on November 8, 2022. Moreover, Allen is accused of participating in the special election on August 8, 2023, and once again during the general election on November 7, 2023.
As outlined by the indictment, filed on Thursday, Allen’s arraignment is scheduled to occur later at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center. The case highlights the stringent requirements for electoral participation and showcases the legal repercussions potentially awaiting those who seek to assert their citizenship rights wrongfully. Details surrounding the case will continue to unfold as Allen is expected to make her first court appearance soon.
