According to a recent announcement fromWright County Planning & Zoning, this initiative aims to reduce hazardous waste in landfills by recovering valuable materials like copper, plastic, and even lead from old lights. Last year, Wright County collected 1,713 pounds of Christmas lights and is looking to surpass that total this holiday season.
The recycling program isn’t just a seasonal effort residents can drop off old holiday lights year-round at the Wright County Compost & Recycling Center, free of charge.
