Fremont Resident Accused of Multiple Thefts at Metro Mall, Arrested by Colma Police

In a recent crackdown on retail theft, Colma Police apprehended a suspect linked to a series of thefts at the Metro Mall Shopping Center. On Wednesday, just after 9 PM, officers responded to a report of an in-progress theft at Metro Mall. The suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Fremont resident Roberto Cuencacisneros, was reportedly concealing merchandise in a suitcase when apprehended leaving a store.

TheColma Police Departmentdocumented in a social media post that the suspect initially attempted to flee on foot, prompting police to pursue and detain him quickly. During their arrest, officers recovered around $1,314.48 worth of goods and discovered tools commonly used in burglaries. According to the post, Cuencacisneros seemed to blatantly ignore the officers’ commands during the incident before being caught.

Investigations connected Cuencacisneros to two additional thefts at the same shopping center, dated October 30 and November 7, where approximately $880 were stolen. The repeat offenses culminated in charges being pressed against Cuencacisneros for grand theft, possession of burglary tools, and resisting a police officer.

Following the arrest, Cuencacisneros was booked into the San Mateo County Jail. Further details on the case and the ongoing investigation have not been released.
