Bronx Man and Teen Charged with Second-Degree Murder in October Shooting Over Marijuana

A Bronx man and a teenager face serious charges after a robbery that ended in a fatal shooting. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced the indictment of 25-year-old Francisco Deleon and a 15-year-old for second-degree murder and other charges related to an October incident that killed 26-year-old Ali Flores. The shooting reportedly occurred during a struggle over marijuana and cash, according to theBronx District Attorney’s office release.

The indictment includes two counts each of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for both defendants. The officials reported that the defendants had lured Flores into an apartment inside 671 Westchester Avenue, where the crime occurred on the evening of October 16. Following the shooting, the victim’s property was taken by the assailants, who then fled to another apartment in the same building. There they were apprehended by police, who obtained a search warrant and recovered the stolen items.

Both defendants have been arraigned and remanded, with Deleon’s court appearance taking place before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Brenda Rivera and the 15-year-old appearing in the Youth Part before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Gayle Roberts. They are due back in court on February 6, 2025. “The defendants allegedly robbed a man inside an apartment building, and during it he was shot, allegedly by the teenage boy. We cannot become inured to the tragedy of children committing gun violence in our community,” Clark stated in the samerelease.

Security footage captured the event, helping to build the case against the accused. Clark’s office thanked several people for their efforts, including NYPD detectives and members of the Police Service Area 7 Field Intelligence Office. The prosecution, led by Senior Homicide Counsel Morgan Dolan, is supported by high-ranking Homicide Bureau officials, crime victim advocates, and video evidence specialists.
