Frost Advisory in Effect for Raleigh, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem Until 8 AM, Mild Week Ahead

In an early morning advisory, The National Weather Service in Raleigh, North Carolina, has issued a Frost Advisory which remains in effect until 8 AM EST today. According to the notice onNWS, temperatures dropping as low as 34 degrees could result in frost, posing a threat to tender plants and sensitive vegetation.

The advisory covers a significant portion of central North Carolina, including the areas surrounding Raleigh, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. Residents in these areas are advised to take preventive actions, to shield their outdoor plants from the potential cold snap. Temperatures as low as 34 will result in frost formation, theNWSstatement warns, indicating that unprotected foliage could suffer damage or even be killed if left exposed.

Following the frost advisory’s expiration, the outlook for the week appears to be mild, with daytime temperatures climbing. Today’s forecast predicts mostly sunny skies with a high nearing 67 degrees and similarly pleasant conditions expected tomorrow with a high around 71 degrees. The nighttime temperatures will be cooler, dipping to around 45 tonight and a slightly higher 49 degrees the following night.

Going beyond the immediate frost concerns, the weather in the Raleigh area should not pose further hazards this week, with the National Weather Service reporting no expected hazardous conditions. However, a slight chance of rain is forecasted on Tuesday and the possibility increases later in the week, with chances of precipitation varying between 20% to 50%. “A chance of rain before 1pm, then a chance of showers after 1pm,” details theNWSforecast for Wednesday, while temperatures are expected to stay consistently around the 70-degree mark before dropping Thursday evening.
