Family and MAD DADS Rally for Justice in Unsolved Murder of Jacksonville Father Brandon Holcomb

The Jacksonville community continues to reel in the aftermath of the death of local father Brandon Holcomb, who was murdered on September 26 in the Mixon Town neighborhood during Hurricane Helene. As reported byNews4Jax, Holcomb’s mother, Ericka Kohn, and other bereaved family members have been canvassing their neighborhood in search of answers. They are joined by the anti-crime group MAD DADS in their efforts to bring attention to the case in hopes of finding the person responsible.

Holcomb, a port worker known for his dedication to his job and as a loving father, would have celebrated his 39th birthday last Friday.First Coast Newsreports that “his family gathered with posters, bouquets and “happy birthday” balloons,” an evident testament to the gap his absence leaves behind. The family is disturbed by the lack of resolution, with the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office listing the case as “not cleared.”

During the canvasing, Kohn spoke directly about the tragic nature of her son’s death and her determination to find closure. In a statement obtained byNews4Jax, Kohn expressed her anguish, stating, “I am not making it through. I am not, I cry every day. I am upset every day.” The family’s persistent search for justice has garnered support from community members and MAD DADS, emphasizing the shared impact of gun violence within the community.

According toAction News Jax, Kohn’s plea for the perpetrator to come forward resonates with a stark reminder to the community of the frailty of peace as she says, “Y all can get visitation, only visitation my son can get is in the dirt. That s how I have to visit him.” A $10,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest, hoping to incentivize anyone with knowledge of the murder to step forward.
