A devastating three-alarm fire engulfed a duplex on 100 block of West Richardson Avenue in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, leading to eight individuals being hospitalized, including two with serious injuries. The fire, which began early Saturday morning, required a rescue operation for at least one person who was found unconscious inside the home, as reported byNBC Philadelphia. Firefighters were swiftly on the scene, and their efforts were able to bring the fire under control eventually.

The intense flames posed significant challenges for the emergency crews, who acted quickly to evacuate the trapped individuals. “The initial crews took a pretty substantial beating trying to make those rescues,” Langhorne Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry revealed, in an interview withNBC Philadelphia. Despite the difficult circumstances presented by the home’s structure and older condition, all eight people inside were transported to hospitals, with two needing to be airlifted due to the severity of their injuries.

According toFOX29, the fire, described as stubborn, was eventually contained to the two units of the dwelling. This incident marks the second time crews have responded to a fire at this residence in recent months, with a previous fire occurring on the front porch in October, which was extinguished by a resident.

Alongside human casualties, multiple pets also succumbed to the blaze. “There are two cats I believe that survived at this time and point and I believe there were seven cats and one dog that have perished,” Farry told6abc. The fire’s impact extends past the immediate danger it posed. Local community members are to now come together to support the affected family, as the American Legion of Langhorne collects donations to aid in their recovery.
