A New Jersey MTA supervisor, Stacey Fiore, has struck it rich by winning a $1 million Powerball prize, and she’s not shy about sharing her windfall with the world. Fiore, a regular player of lottery games, purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket at a Quick Stop in New Jersey last Friday and found out about her win two days later thanks to the lottery’s phone app which flashed the message, “Congratulations. You won a million dollars,” as theNew York Postreported.
Despite the big win Fiore was one number shy of hitting the colossal jackpot her Powerball selection was 12 when the drawn number was 16, which nonetheless did not curb her enthusiasm; she promptly confirmed the win by checking the numbers with her husband Greg, who also works for the MTA, she recalled the moment saying, “I told him he better not be messing with me,” according to the sameNew York Postarticle. The bank received a visit from the elated winner who gleefully announced to the manager, “You know somebody won $1 million here in town? Well, that s me!”
Despite the substantial prize money, Fiore didn’t quit her job and returned to her MTA supervisory role on Staten Island, sticking to an earlier prediction she had shared with colleagues. Her husband Greg joked about cutting down on overtime, but it appears this is not in the cards for him quite yet. As for plans with the new fortune, the couple is considering a vacation, hinting at their desire for some well-deserved relaxation after the shock of their newfound wealth as also explained in their interview withNBC New York.
The big win has stirred excitement not just for the couple but for their children as well, especially with the holiday season fast approaching, and although Fiore joked to her husband that his days of overtime are over, she quickly retorted, “Oh, there s still going to be overtime for you!” asNew York Postreported; this family’s holiday season is certainly looking brighter this year with their million-dollar cheer.
