63-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck While Crossing US-41 in Tampa, No Charges Expected for Driver

A pedestrian was killed yesterday evening after being hit by a vehicle as he attempted to cross US-41 in Tampa, according to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The incident occurred just north of 118th Avenue East, when the pedestrian, a 63-year-old Tampa man, stepped onto the road and was struck by a southbound Mazda 3 driven by a 35-year-old man, also from Tampa.

The fatal collision happened around 8 p.m., as the Mazda driver was seemingly unable to avoid the pedestrian who had walked directly into the vehicle’s path.WFLAreports that the man died at the scene of the crash, despite the immediacy of emergency services. This stretch of US-41, roughly 4 miles northwest of Busch Gardens, has been noted for its high traffic and limited pedestrian infrastructure.

The authorities have yet to release extensive details about the accident, however, there s an indication from FHP that no charges are expected to be leveled against the driver of the Mazda. As reported byWTSP, despite the tragic outcome, no criminal conduct is seemingly at play in this incident.
