San Mateo Man Arrested for Destruction Rampage, Faces Multiple Charges Including Felony Vandalism

San Mateo saw a surge of police activity last Friday when officers responded to a disturbance call involving a drunken rampage. According to theSan Mateo Police Department, at around 3:31 pm officers were dispatched to an apartment on the 100 block of 36th Avenue where a man was reported to be violently tearing apart the residence while under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Marvin Davila Ramos, a San Mateo resident, was making slurs and physically attacked his roommate, resulting in his arrest later that afternoon. As officers arrived, they observed Ramos destroying property, which included throwing out a TV and a fish tank through the apartment’s windows. The situation escalated when another resident had to barricade herself to stay clear of Ramos’ aggressive behavior while one roommate had already safely evacuated the premises.

Ramos’ actions amounted to an estimated $3,890 in damages to the apartment complex and over $500 within the apartment itself. Despite a spree of destruction and threats, police were able to use less-than-lethal force to subdue Ramos. A 40mm less-lethal projectile allowed officers to take him into custody despite his continued resistance. Following his arrest, Ramos was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation before being booked into San Mateo County Jail. The charges against Ramos include felony vandalism, obstructing a police officer, violation of civil rights, and battery.
