A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his uncle, a dispatcher for the Spring Branch ISD Police Department. According to aClick2Houstonreport, Antonio Guzman has been charged with the murder of his uncle, Jose Torres, who was killed in his own yard in northwest Houston.

Last Friday afternoon, Torres, 37, was shot at his residence on Mallard Stream Court. He was expected to pick up his wife and children from school, but when he did not arrive, they arranged alternative transportation. Upon returning home, the family found Torres’s body.

The Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez informedFOX 26 Houstonthat property was missing from the home, suggesting a possible robbery. The investigation led to the arrest of Guzman on Sunday in the 7200 block of Fairbanks North Houston Road.

According toClick2Houston, court documents allege that Guzman, who was raised by Torres, admitted to the shooting, stating that he felt unwelcome and unloved. “Jose leaves behind a wife and two beautiful daughters,” the SBISD Police Department lamented in a statement. “He was taken from us by a senseless act of violence while he worked to make a better life for his family.”
