Ocala Woman Loses Life After Car Plunges into Lake County Pond Near Leesburg

An Ocala woman, age 25, met a tragic end when her vehicle ended up submerged in a Lake County pond early this week. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was behind the wheel of a 2019 Dodge Challenger, traveling north on County Road 452. For reasons still under investigation,ClickOrlandoreported that the vehicle swerved off the road, striking a pole and a chain-link fence before coming to rest in the waters near Leesburg.

The crash near Martin Drive led to the car becoming completely submerged in a retention pond on the shoulder of County Road 452. The woman, despite emergency response efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene. The FHP’s preliminary crash report notes that further details, including the exact time of the crash, are under investigation.
