Houston Police Seek Suspect Trezahn Jamal Grace Charged in Richmond Avenue Fatal Shooting

Houston authorities are searching for a suspect charged with the murder following a fatal shooting in the city. Trezahn Jamal Grace, 28, stands accused of killing Darius Merrett, 34, at an apartment complex on Richmond Avenue earlier this month.

Houston Police Department (HPD) officers arrived at the scene around 6:20 p.m. last Thursday to find Merrett unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Houston Fire Department paramedics declared the victim deceased at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing an unknown black male leaving in a matte black, two-door Mercedes Benz, as per information fromCity of Houston News.

A subsequent investigation by HPD’s Homicide Division, under Sergeant C. Ponder and Detective G. Rangel, identified Grace as the key suspect. As a result, Grace now faces a murder charge in the 184th State District Court. While his current whereabouts remain unknown, a booking photo from 2022 accompanies the release to aid in his apprehension.
