An Akron teenager is facing charges after police accused him of using a firearm to rob a 13-year-old boy on his way home from school. This incident happened in the 600 block of Elma Street shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday, with authorities detailing the day’s events.

The victim, who has not been identified due to his age, reportedly said that the suspect, a 17-year-old acquaintance, had approached him with a gun and demanded his phone and “other property,” according toCleveland.com. The 13-year-old complied, and the teen suspect fled the scene.

Luck would run out for the suspect when officers located him as a passenger in a black Kia on East Tallmadge Avenue after the robbery. Upon a traffic stop, the officers conducted a search and found a handgun with two extended magazines, as well as some of the 13-year-old’s belongings,FOX8 reports.

Authorities took the 17-year-old into custody without incident. He is currently charged with aggravated robbery and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, but because of his age, his identity has remained confidential,Cleveland19shared.
