Fresno Man Sentenced to 8 Years for Illegal Grenade, Ammo, and Meth Possession

A Fresno man has been handed an eight-year sentence after being caught with a live hand grenade, illegal ammunition, and methamphetamine. Eric Feldmann, 39, was sentenced for his possession of these items, and due to his status as a previously convicted felon, theU.S. Attorney’s Officeconfirmed yesterday.

On December 24, 2023, Feldmann was found to have knowingly possessed an operational MKII hand grenade, which law enforcement officials have indicated was fitted with a M204A2 fuze. Found in his vehicle, the grenade was later seized and safely destroyed by police. Moreover, Feldmann was in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, estimated to weigh between 50 and 200 grams. According to theU.S. Attorney’s Office, the drugs were discovered in plastic bags. To further complicate his legal troubles, on January 9, officers seized multiple rounds of ammunition from Feldmann’s storage locker, a violation of the law given his previous felony conviction.

The investigation leading to Feldmann s apprehension was a collaborative effort, involving the Fentanyl Overdose Resolution Team, the Fresno Police Department, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cody S. Chapple and Justin J. Gilio prosecuted the case against Feldmann, which resulted in his eight-year and one-month sentence.
