Brooklyn Holocaust Survivors Receive Gift of Sound™ Through Miracle-Ear Initiative on Anniversary of Auschwitz Liberation

The Miracle-Ear Foundation, in partnership with many Jewish organizations, has started a project to restore hearing to Holocaust survivors in Brooklyn, enhancing their quality of life and offering the possibility of improved communication with those around them. This is a huge community effort that is giving hope and real support to those who have survived the worst of storms. According to PIX11, this program has struck a chord with empathy and pragmatism, focusing on survivors who continue to experience the effects of one of the most horrific periods in history even after eight decades have passed.

As a gesture of collective remembrance and a commitment to restore what was once lost, the Miracle-Ear Foundation has announced their Miracle Mission, which will improve audial engagement for 100 survivors. The initiative, as described by PR Newswire, represents more than just technological intervention; it’s a bridge to clearer communication lanes, renewing social interactions and family ties. The Miracle-Ear mission also marks the approaching International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the poignant 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

“We are honored to work with these community partners to provide free hearing aids to restore hearing and improve the lives of these Survivors through the gift of sound,” said Jenni Hargraves, Executive Director of the Miracle-Ear Foundation, in an interview with PR Newswire. Hargraves emphasized the initiative as a means of enhancing communication with loved ones. Jack Simony, the director general of the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation, painfully brought attention to the urgent need for such help, noting that many survivors struggle to pay for healthcare essentials like hearing aids and live in poverty, as reported by PR Newswire.

The Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island (JCCGCI), the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation (AJCF), and the Claims Conference are among the community partners of the program. These organizations have a strong history of caring for and respecting this vulnerable demographic. In an explanation to PIX11, Rabbi Wiener of JCCGCI praised the effort to improve hearing and, consequently, the dignity of the survivors, transforming them into a symbol of strength and hope. Representing the idea that outreach is more than just financial assistance, the Miracle-Ear Mission took place Monday at Brooklyn’s Palace Hall. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., experts linked participants with technology to recover the subtleties of sound that had been lost.

As demonstrated by the Miracle-Ear Foundation’s record of significant humanitarian contributions, generosity and community support have been the cornerstones of the organization, which has been helping people with hearing impairments since 1990. The organization has made a significant impact on lives by donating over 48,000 hearing aids, and its dedication to care and access reverberates with enduring echoes of hope as it expands its outreach to one of the most deserving groups in society: Holocaust survivors.
