Three Suspects Charged, One At Large in Connection with Chickamauga Homicide

Three people have been arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) during an investigation into a killing in Chickamauga, Georgia. Marcus Allen Chambers, 18, Kayla Michelle McClure, 21, and James Logan Darty, 21 are among those detained. According to a news statement issued by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, investigators are also still looking for Brayden Whatley, 23, who is still at large and wanted in relation to Dakota Bottomlee’s shooting death.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office was contacted in the early hours of November 1 regarding a potential cardiac arrest in the 1000 block of Johnson Road. When cops arrived, they discovered Bottomlee dead from gunshot wounds in the carport of the house. At the scene, Bottomlee was declared deceased. Following a tip, a Ringgold property was searched, and the results led to the issuing of arrest warrants for McClure and Darty, followed later that week by Chambers and Whatley.

McClure, Darty, and Chambers are still being held at Walker County Jail, according to the GBIpress release. The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office SRT executed a search warrant at a property on Alabama Highway in Ringgold, GA, which appeared to lead detectives to believe the suspects were involved in Bottomlee’s death and resulted in the arrest warrants for the accused.

The GBI is urging the public to come forward with any information on the case or Whatley’s whereabouts as the quest for him continues. The case file will be turned over to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for evaluation after the inquiry is finished.
