After being temporarily closed because of a traffic incident, the section of Card Sound Road is now open to the public. Following a collision on the Miami-Dade County side of the roadway, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stated that the route was closed in both directions close to the north Key Largo area. Numerous residents and visitors were impacted by the shutdown, which started early Sunday afternoon, according to the Miami Herald.
Although they responded quickly, authorities have not yet released incident details. Travel to the well-known location could be disrupted, thus the shutdown of the road—one of only two that lead into the Florida Keys—attracted immediate notice. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office highlighted the seriousness of the disruption to the regular traffic flow by using social media to announce the highway’s closure and later reopening.
The road was cleared for usage by 6:30 p.m. the same day, and the reopening was publicized prior to the evening rush. The officials did not immediately provide information on whether any injuries were caused by the collision.
