Scottsdale Celebrates Historic Voter Turnout; Unofficial Election Results Favor Lisa Borowsky for Mayor, New Faces on City Council

With the largest turnout the city has seen in more than 40 years, Scottsdale’s citizens have made their opinions heard and cast their ballots. With a resounding 89% of Scottsdale voters casting ballots in the general election, the city’s increased civic involvement is evident. According to the City of Scottsdale’s most recent announcement, the votes, as counted by the Maricopa County Elections Office, have not yet formally established the framework for the city’s future leadership and policy direction if they are confirmed.

According to the unofficial results, Lisa Borowsky has won the race to become the mayor of Scottsdale, a post she will take on in January 2025. Maryann McAllen and Adam Kwasman will eagerly accompany her as they take their first steps onto the City Council floor, prepared to represent the dynamic community that elected them. Jan Dubauskas, the winner of the July 2024 primary, will also be joining the council at the start of the next term, thus they are not alone in their journey.

Scottsdale residents adopted two city proposals and elected representatives. 58.25% of voters adopted Proposition 490, which raises the municipal sales tax rate by 0.15% beginning July 1, 2025. The additional funding will go toward sustaining the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and enhancing, preserving, and safeguarding city parks and recreational areas.

Additionally, Prop. 491 received a resoundingly positive reaction, with a 66.15% approval percentage, which gave the city the authority to modify its baseline for the state-imposed expenditure limits.
