Philadelphia Man Arrested, Facing Charges in Connection with Two Sexual Assaults in Point Breeze and Wharton Streets

According to NBC Philadelphia, a guy has been taken into custody by Philadelphia police on suspicion of committing two separate sexual assaults on the city’s streets within a few hours of one another. In connection with the events of Sunday evening and the early hours of Monday morning, Abdul Ford, 22, is charged with rape, sexual assault, and other offenses.

Around 10:50 p.m. on Sunday night, Ford reportedly attacked a victim in the 1600 block of Point Breeze Avenue in the first assault. According to authorities, a second incident happened nearby on the 2000 block of Wharton Street a few hours later, at around 1:30 a.m. The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the victims after grabbing them from behind in both cases. According to FOX 29, both victims were able to escape despite the trauma.

According to 6abc, officers were able to capture Ford after tracking down a second victim’s stolen cell phone in the 1300 block of South 22nd Street. The culprit in the assault was apprehended as a result of this important piece of evidence.

To get support and care, both victims were brought to the Special Victims Unit. The National Sexual Violence Resource Center offers information for victims of sexual violence, and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-4673 is a good place to call for help. Even though Ford does not presently have an attorney listed in online court records, the charges against him carry the weight of potentially severe legal consequences.
