Dorchester Man Sentenced to 18 Months in Boston for Illegal Reentry After Deportation

In Boston federal court, a 26-year-old Dominican national from Dorchester was found guilty of illegally reentering the country after being deported. The guy in question, Tommy Raul Jimenez-Perez, was sentenced to 18 months in jail, to be served concurrently with a five- to seven-year state narcotics sentence and three years of supervised release.

Yesterday marked the conclusion of the case against Jimenez-Perez, who in October 2023 entered a guilty plea to the allegation of unlawful entrance of a deported alien. Judge Leo T. Sorokin of the U.S. District Court presided over the proceedings and decided that the sentences were concurrent.

Although it’s unclear exactly when Jimenez-Perez entered the country, he was convicted of two drug offenses in May 2018. Following these experiences, he voluntarily departed the country. But in February 2020, Jimenez-Perez was captured by the U.S. Border Patrol in Texas, and on March 3 of the same year, he was once again taken off U.S. soil. He quickly found a means to enter the country illegally once more, which was uncovered in January 2023 when he was arrested on other charges.

Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox, and Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director, Boston, for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, all made announcements regarding the punishment. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus and Charles Dell Anno of the Criminal Division spearheaded the prosecution. According to the United States Attorney’s Office, this information was acquired through an official statement that included the specifics of the punishment and the parties involved in the case.
