North Carolina Springs Into Holiday Spirit with Star Parties, Concerts, and Family Fun Festivities

There is something for everyone at affordable holiday celebrations hosted by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. According to a news release from the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, there are events to fit a variety of interests, such as singing with the North Carolina Symphony or stargazing at Jockey’s Ridge State Park.

Star fans and locals are invited to Jockey’s Ridge State Park on Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for the Holiday Star Party Food Drive. The OBX Astronomy Club and Dare County Library will supply telescopes, and attendees can give canned items to the Beach Food Pantry. The event will be rescheduled on Saturday if the weather does not cooperate.

With seasonal entertainment and caroling, the North Carolina Transportation Museum’s Polar Express provides a joyous experience based on the beloved film. From this Friday through Sunday, next Friday through Saturday, and on other dates in December from 1–6–8 and 12–23, families are welcome to join in their pajamas.

The same announcement states that on Tuesday of next week, the North Carolina Symphony’s “Holiday Pops” will be performed at the Paramount Theatre in Goldsboro, allowing concertgoers to experience the festive atmosphere. Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh will host Cirque Holiday Pops, a blend of classical music and acrobatics, from Wednesday through Saturday of next week. For early visitors, Santa will also be in the lobby prior to the performance.

The Albemarle’s School Days Museum Students have the opportunity to learn about the past through interactive exercises, reading a colonial Christmas book, playing games, and bringing home a souvenir bell from the Albemarle Express model train during Colonial Christmas, which takes place from December 2–20. These events honor the holiday season while introducing guests to North Carolina’s past.
