In an effort to stock the Mission Arlington Christmas Store, the Arlington ISD and area partners organized the first-ever Mission Joy Toy Drive, which made the holiday season in Arlington a bit brighter. Local groups, city agencies, and schools are embracing the spirit of giving to make sure underprivileged children can enjoy some holiday enchantment.
Along with Arlington City Hall and other community locations, over 30 Arlington ISD schools are taking part as drop-off locations in partnership with the City of Arlington, the Arlington Fire Department, and the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Before the deadline of December 10th, residents are urged to donate brand-new, unopened gifts. There’s no reason not to share the fun and, well, the toys this holiday season, especially since it’s so simple to locate a drop-off place nearby.
Put December 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. on your calendars because it will be a drive-thru toy drop-off jamboree at the Dr. Marcelo Cavazos Center for Visual and Performing Arts. The event, which is anticipated to be the pinnacle of Mission Joy, will include live performances by Arlington ISD kids as well as an opportunity to get to know Mission Arlington’s committed employees, including executive director Tillie Burgin.
Every toy will end up in the hands of excited children on December 11 as the shelves of the Mission Arlington Christmas Store start to fill with generosity. This toy drive might be your calling if you want to have a real influence this holiday season. The City of Arlington says, “Don’t miss your chance to bring smiles to the faces of kids in your community.” Anyone who wants to help make Christmas more joyful for everyone may easily relate to this sentiment.
