Pompano Beach Celebrates 62nd Holiday Boat Parade Honoring First Responders on December 13th

December 13 will mark the 62nd anniversary of the Pompano Beach Holiday Boat Parade, the longest-running event of its kind in the country. Rain or shine, the parade will begin at Lake Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. “A Salute to our First Responders,” this year’s theme, pays tribute to individuals who protect public safety.

The procession will head north, crossing the Hillsboro Bridge, and finish at Sullivan Park, which is close to the border between Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton. A display of boats decked out with festive lights and decorations is available for spectators to enjoy. The last boat will be Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, who will wave to the throng from the back. This year’s Grand Marshals are local heroes, such as the recently established Ely fire cadets and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Firefighters, according to an event posting on the City of Pompano Beach’s website.

With plenty of parking and seating for more than 300 guests, the Miraggio Italian Grill, situated at 3100 E. Atlantic Boulevard, will double as the MC, judging station, and viewing stand for an exceptional viewing experience. In order to guarantee that there are plenty of places to watch the event, Alsdorf Park on 14th Street Causeway will also have bleachers for spectators. Additionally, for those who are unable to attend in person, the whole Boat Parade will be live-streamed on the Chamber’s YouTube website and the Pompano Beach/Margate/Lighthouse Point Chamber Facebook page.

The NE 14th Street Causeway and Atlantic Boulevard Intracoastal Waterway Bridges will remain in the open position from 6:15 p.m. until the parade passes in its entirety, so those who intend to attend should be aware of this. During certain periods, drivers should arrange for different routes to and from the beach. You can check the event’s web page or give 954-941-2940 a call for further information.
