Two Arrested in Connection with Fatal Wilmington Assault on 60-Year-Old Dwayne Clifton

Two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the July assault in Wilmington that claimed the life of 60-year-old Dwayne Clifton. After police reacted to an emergency call in the early hours of July 29, a protracted investigation ensued, culminating in the arrest on November 18.

Officers found Clifton suffering from a significant head injury that would later prove deadly when they arrived at the scene on East 27th Street. The following investigation was led by Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division and the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences. The inquiry ultimately identified 52-year-old Adrian Richardson and 54-year-old Sonya Tull as suspects in the case, according to official records.

Earlier this month, the New Castle County Grand Jury indicted Richardson and Tull for their alleged roles in the assault. An important development in this ongoing case of tragic violence is that both of the defendants have since been taken into jail without incident.

Richardson is currently being charged with several offenses, including manslaughter, first-degree burglary, and second-degree conspiracy, as a result of the indictment. On a $50,000 cash-only bond, he was arraigned and taken to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. Tull, his associate, is being imprisoned at the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $15,000 cash-only bail after being charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree conspiracy.
