Double Homicide Probe After Discovery of Bodies in East Lansing Freezer, Person of Interest Deceased

On November 7, local police in East Lansing made the horrifying discovery that two people’s remains were inside a freezer at a residence in the 1500 block of Wintercrest Street. According to information provided by FOX17, the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) said it is presently looking into the incident as a double homicide.

After receiving a complaint of a “suspicious situation,” ELPD officials first responded on the location to find a gruesome scene including blood and human remains on the property. A ‘person of interest’ has been identified since the beginning of the investigation. But this person is no longer alive. According to the Lansing State Journal, authorities have not revealed the circumstances surrounding the person of interest’s death, the ELPD noted.

The ELPD is dedicated to thoroughly processing the evidence and identifying the victims, even if the department has not disclosed any details about the identity of the person of interest or whether the deceased was one of those discovered in the freezer. They encourage the public to provide any useful information in partnership with the Ingham County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.

Residents are encouraged to call Detective Jason Cotton at (517) 319-6842 or Detective Sgt. Nicole Mitchell at (517) 319-6876 if they have any questions regarding the case. Putting community safety and awareness first, East Lansing Police feel there is no continuing threat to the public, even though no arrests have been made as of November 8.
