Discover the Art of Kimekomi as Raleigh’s Five Points Center Hosts Festive Crafting Workshop

On December 4, from 1 to 4 p.m., the Five Points Center for Active Adults will be holding a craft workshop. According to the City of Raleigh website, participants can make Kimekomi trees, a Japanese craft that uses fabric-covered Styrofoam with carved designs.

Originally used to create dolls, kimekomi is now utilized to create a variety of ornamental objects. While enjoying the holiday season with others, participants will make their own trees at the workshop by tucking and pasting cloth into cutouts and embellishing with ribbons and beads.

Adults 18 and up are welcome to attend, and admission is $19 for locals and $34 for visitors. Go to the Raleigh Parks & Recreation page to register and learn more.
