Human Remains Discovered at South Park Tree Fire, Los Angeles Responders Launch Investigation

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters putting out a tree fire in a South Park neighborhood early in the morning made the sobering finding that among the rubble and flames were human remains. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded quickly to a fire report involving a single tree burnt within a bigger pile of trash at 525 E Vernon Avenue at around 5:06 AM. The incident, logged as INC#0195, occurred at that location.

The unexpected appearance of a deceased person subtly agitated the atmosphere, which was descriptive in its bleakness by nature. According to the LAFD notice, the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Arson Counterterrorism Section will be spearheading the investigation.

As investigations continue, neither the deceased’s identity nor the circumstances leading up to their death have been made public. With no additional information at this time, the LAFD highlighted the seriousness of the situation.

“Firefighters located the tree in a larger area of rubbish and located one deceased person,” said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department, highlighting the limited information that has been revealed about the tragedy thus far. According to the official communications released to the public, the emergency response units that were sent out—AR1, AR10, and Engine 21—reflected the combined efforts of Fire Station 21, Battalion 13, and the South Bureau in council District 9.
