North Philadelphia Community Shocked by Fatal Shooting at Pete’s Pizza After Suspected Road Rage Incident

Following what police believe may have been an incident of road rage, a fatal shooting occurred inside Pete’s Pizza, a neighborhood restaurant on Ridge Avenue, leaving a North Philadelphia community in shock. Reports of the event were received by the Philadelphia Police Department just after midnight. According to FOX29, it got at the scene to discover a 26-year-old male who had been shot in the head at the pizza shop’s entryway.

Authorities said the man was declared dead at the scene. It is thought that a small car accident that became violent was the starting point for the altercation. Police are actively looking for the shooter, who is described as a gray middle-aged man with shoulder-length dreadlocks who drives a dark SUV. According to a statement received by 6abc, police are attempting to gather further surveillance footage that showed the incident from both the exterior and inside cameras.

Chief Inspector Scott Small disclosed during a news conference that the fatal altercation started with a small collision between the suspect’s SUV and the victim’s Honda. According to reports, the men argued outside the pizza place after the accident before entering, where the altercation turned violent and eventually resulted in shooting. “All the cameras and records will be retrieved by homicide investigators, and perhaps we will be able to obtain the license plate of the gunman’s car. However, Small told 6abc, “We also have a pretty good description of that shooter, with the shoulder-length dreadlocks that look gray in color.”

The terrible situation at Pete’s Pizza is not unique. In June, Danny Matthews, a pizza delivery guy, was shot and killed outside the same business in what appeared to be a robbery attempt. When Matthews, 29, returned from a delivery, he was accosted. According to information verified by officials and reported by 6abc, despite the robbery motive, no money was stolen before the suspect left the area. NBC Philadelphia noted that despite these violent incidents, homicides in Philadelphia have decreased this year, with the most recent police data showing the lowest year-to-date total in ten years.
