In the General Election earlier this month, voters in San Luis chose their representatives on the city council and the outcome of two important proposals. Luis E. Cabrera, Esteban Rosales, and Lizeth Servin are expected to assume leadership roles shortly after winning council seats in a fiercely contested election, according to the final results polled during Wednesday’s Council Meeting and released by the City of San Luis.

Rosales received 2,916 votes (19.65%), Servin received 2,709 votes (18.25%), and Cabrera received 2,920 votes (19.67%), the most of any candidate. According to the City of San Louis, Ruben Walshe was not far behind with 2,645 votes, or 17.82% of the total, while James Allan Jr. and Jorge Villicana received 1,953 and 1,699 votes, respectively.

The General Election also involved two important propositions. Both Proposition 430, which gave Southwest Gas a franchise, and Proposition 431, which dealt with the Home Rule Option, were approved. According to the City of San Luis, Proposition 430 passed with 3,618 yes votes to 2,713 no votes, while Proposition 431 narrowly prevailed with 3,382 in favor and 3,058 against.

At the council meeting on December 11, the elected council members will take their oaths of office. A welcome and farewell reception will immediately follow. See the City of San Luis’s official statement for the complete election results and further information.
